Jeremy Burd

Hey, my name is Jeremy Michael Burd and I’m 37 years old originally from a small town in Kentucky named Benton. I am married to my best friend, favorite training partner and most important student, Reagan. We have a 15 Year Old Son that’s grown up in Martial Arts and truly loves to Wrestle and compete. He’s truly a character and thankful he’s my Son. His name is Ellis.

So, Growing up I always loved to wrestle friends but we didn’t have any Wrestling or Jiu Jitsu offered there as a class or program. At 30 I finally had my chance to start Jiu Jitsu in Paducah, KY under Eli Knight. There, I found I loved it more than I thought I would. I was always curious and always kept my very nice and patient instructor after class to talk and ask questions. I fell in love with the sport aspect, the self defense aspect, and the competition aspect. The school where I was at originally wasn’t a competition geared academy and that’s ok but I wanted to expand. I started training with Clay Mayfield and The Wiltse Brothers. Clay supported me and granted me different perspectives I may have missed without him. He brought me into Pedigo Submission Fighting (based out of Mt. Vernon, IL and known as Daisy Fresh)and introduced me to a whole team of incredible people off the mats and World Champions on the mat.

Clay, Andrew and Bird Wiltse provided game changing understanding of how to compete, how to teach, how to coach and how to do Jiu Jitsu. I truly learned my favorite ways and what I believe to be the most effective strategies on how to run a room from the Pedigo Family. Heath Pedigo is the man behind the team and has designed a way handling Jiu Jitsu that is truly different than any other team I’ve been affiliated with. I loved the team and was working on moving to Nashville to continue my Jiu Jitsu days under Clay at Triangle Academy. However, in early 2019, tragedy struck and I had to change plans in life completely. My stepfather died and we immediately had to make the move to Ocala, FL to help my Mom.

When we moved, there was no way for me to keep training as I was so me and my family found new ways to keep training after the move. After about a year and a half, life worked out where I could get a professional setup built in my home garage. There we started Burdhouse Combat Club under Eli Knight. After an incredible year, great training and amazing people visiting from all over, we found that it was time to change gears and get back with the Pedigo Team thanks to Chad Michael Hawkins. I had called him for advice on next steps as we had people wanting to compete and wanting more of a team support system. Well a year later we now have our first public location done, up and running.

This all worked as it did because we have a different goal set when we’re training. We have a more positive perspective overall and we all want each other to win in life. We believe our culture is the key and even though we’re still new, we already have an unbelievable group of people behind it. Lots of people being super tough to deal with but at the same time… some of the nicest people you’ll ever compete against or train with. We’re definitely trying to do it right.

I am fortunate to have had so many top notch instructors and coaches that’s influenced me a lot or a little. I have invested a lot of myself, money and time into training. I’ve learned from some of the best in the World. I’ve cross trained a lot of places, competed and coached in competition. I’ve tried to take all the best stuff and my favorite stuff and build greatness with it. And… It’s all led me to a point where I can teach and train with my Wife (Reagan), my Son (Ellis), my friends, my students, and whoever in the future. At PSF Ocala “The Burdhouse” I realize this stuff isn’t for everyone but if you’re into it at all or know someone who is, we might be the best place for them to feel comfortable and capable of learning. I’ve done my best to provide a fun atmosphere but also a learning atmosphere.

It should also be said that I’m on a mission to do something really great for everyone around me directly and the community overall. I’ve been very blessed with the immense support of my Late Mother to get this going. She raised me all on her own and gave me every tool she could to live my dreams. I will not waste the opportunities my Mom and others gave me in this life and if you see what we’re doing at “The Burdhouse”, you’ll more than likely see that passion.

Thanks to all who got me here and thanks for reading this. I am Jeremy Michael Burd, Head instructor and Managing Member of PSF Ocala, LLC. I absolutely love Jiu Jitsu and Wrestling, the community and I absolutely plan on doing all I can for it while I’m able. If interested in what we’re building out here, don’t hesitate to reach out.
